[Beyond Time: The Eternal Realm of Haute Couture Living]
The stones of the Bund have witnessed a century of history.
As we walk among them, the profound and enduring tension gradually makes us realize: truly enduring things never seek to dazzle in a fleeting moment, but rather embody an intimate silence—a slow and deliberate luxury.
In art history, the expression of “time” rarely unfolds in a linear fashion. In ‘La persistenza della memoria’, time is rendered as a tangible presence that can be observed—even distorted; whereas in ‘Enigma dell’ora’, time is extracted from its very flow, quietly suspended through order and space.
The former makes time visible; the latter makes time stand still. Through radically different paths, they both point to a deeper proposition—time is not merely a measure of passing moments, but an existence that can be perceived, reconstructed, and repositioned.
P&H DESIGN’s latest project—the LULACASA Bund Haute Couture Living Space—unfolds within this very context.
/ The Main Stage of Bespoke Living
Tracing P&H DESIGN’s more than two decades of luxury residence design practice, we have gradually come to realize, through the fusion of creativity, culture, life, and emotion, that “home is a place of near-sacred significance.” Composed of the past, present, and future, the finite trajectory of life—through nurturing relationships, welcoming communities, awakening inspiration, absorbing experiences, and achieving personal growth—slowly accumulates the spiritual depth of its inhabitants, measured in “intergenerational” units.
Form, color, texture, and a sense of the times coexist harmoniously here, blurring the boundaries between style and time. The spirit of the space navigates between past and future, fashion and design, poetry and practicality.
A clock installation floats within the space; its fluid curves echo the texture of French architecture and form a precise counterpoint to the rounded corners of the display cabinets, striking a balance between order and romance.
A curved mirrored installation refracts light, objects, and the contours of the space, superimposing reality and reflection to imbue the rational, restrained aesthetics of haute couture with a layer of lightness and fluid poetry.
A sense of exclusivity, luxurious comfort, and proportion stems from the presence of timeless Italian craftsmanship and grows from Heyuhe’s keen understanding of the resident’s preferences. Within a higher-dimensional lifestyle context, it unfolds a haute couture vision of everyday life at the pinnacle of luxury.
An orange velvet armchair, a mirrored clock, and sculptural wall lamps infuse the space with a soft and joyful atmosphere, outlining the distinctive artistic resonance of haute couture living.
Along the shared path connecting the reception and display areas, certain zones take shape, carrying clear functional logic; others are deliberately left open. Daily experiences are thus transformed into a slow, ritualistic process.
The ceiling uses flowing curves to define the spatial rhythm; the arched dome extends the vertical dimension, while rounded edges soften structural transitions, and horizontal layers balance the spatial volume. Light and shadow flow naturally across the curved surfaces. A unified curvature and proportion run throughout the space, linking cabinetry, walls, and circulation paths into a continuous whole. Within this boundary-less spatial context, a coherent, expansive, and unhurried lifestyle emerges.
The card and board game table, the fireplace, and the display surfaces collectively form interaction hubs of varying scales—the former leaning toward interaction and socializing, where gathering, conversation, and brief exchanges unfold; the latter accommodating more tranquil moments of repose and atmospheric immersion.
Time, firelight, objects, and seating converge to create a stable spatial relationship, elevating leisure beyond superficial pastime to become a genuine extension of quality of life.
/ The Realm of Curation in Haute Couture Living
Lu Zhenfeng, founder of P&H DESIGN, once remarked: “True refinement does not lie in how many decorative elements a space possesses, but in whether it can accommodate human interaction, whether it can provide moments of respite from the hustle and bustle, and whether it is sufficient to allow daily life itself to cultivate dignity, warmth, and lingering resonance.”
Thus, the realization of this “realm of curation” elevates the walk-in closet from a functional appendage to a private curatorial space imbued with aesthetic depth and a curatorial sensibility.
Open display, concealed storage, and hierarchical organization are meticulously orchestrated within a single system; through this layered progression, a living environment emerges that is both restrained and rich. Every detail is sculpted into a portrait that reflects an ever-evolving sense of taste.
Here, the moments captured within the space, the textures refined over time, and the spirit and taste passed down across generations collectively form a tangible, inheritable residential culture—the most authentic and timeless embodiment of bespoke living.
